Table Management System – Increase Revenue, Improve and optimize restaurant guest flow

For a busy and popular restaurant with perhaps a themed weekly dinner serving both walk ins and advance reservation customers, managing the influx of customers while minimizing waiting times before being seated and served can be chaotic.

Every potential sale is important to the restaurant thus has to be accommodated to maximize on revenue, while ensuring the overall guest experience is not compromised, and waiting staff are not over-stretched.

The Oracle Simphony Cloud POS Table Management System

The Oracle Simphony Cloud POS Table Management System (TMS) solves fragmented floor operations by centralizing reservations, waitlists, table status tracking, and server assignments into a single real-time platform, eliminating bottlenecks and improving guest flow

The Table Management System (TMS) feature in Oracle Simphony Cloud POS improves seating plans by providing a visual, real-time floor plan layout. It allows host and floor staff to track table status, manage reservations, and optimize guest seating

How it Works;

Oracle Simphony Cloud Table Management system in action

  • The Arrival: A guest walks in. The host uses a tablet running Simphony to check the floor plan. The screen shows a table is currently finishing dessert.
  • Real-Time Status: The system updates instantly when the table pays the bill. The host sees the table is now “dirty” (needing cleanup) and assigns it a quick turnaround timer.
  • Seating and Ordering: The host seats the party at Table 12. Server gets an instant alert on her handheld device. Server greets the guests and takes their drink and appetizer orders directly into the Simphony handheld.
  • Kitchen Communication: The drink order shoots to the bar printer, and the appetizers go straight to the kitchen display screen. There is no need for Server to walk back to a stationary terminal.
  • Course Management: When the guests finish appetizers, Server enters the main courses using the “fire” feature in Simphony. This signals the kitchen to start cooking the entrées at the right time.
  • Payment: When the guests ask for the check, Server prints it from a mobile printer or processes a contactless payment right at the table using the POS terminal. The table status changes back to “available” on the host’s screen

Key Capabilities of TMS for Seating Plans

  • Visual Floor Plans: Design custom dining room layouts and view table status at a glance.
  • Section & Server Assignments: Group tables into specific sections and assign them to active servers.
  • Real-Time Status Tracking: See how long guests have been seated and monitor order stages (like coursing)
  • Wait List and Reservations: Manage incoming guests, estimate wait times, and control capacity limits per time slot.
  • Tabbed Templates: Switch smoothly between multiple dining layouts, waitlists, and reservation rosters

Operational Challenges Solved

  • Inefficient Seating & Waitlists: Manages digital waitlists, estimates accurate wait-quote times, and seats walk-ins or reservations instantly based on live table availability.
  • Floor Plan Disorganization: Provides a visual, customizable graphical layout of dining sections, table capacities, and active server assignments.
  • Slow Table Turns: Tracks table progress alongside kitchen course updates so hosts and servers know immediately when a table is clearing or needs attention.

Maximize Restaurant revenue potential by managing the tables occupancy & service optimally.
